Introduction

Replacing a CV Joint requires some care and specific tools.

  1. 
With the vehicle resting on the ground, loosen the axle shaft nut and wheel bolts; With the vehicle suspended, remove the wheel;

Release the tie rod from the shock absorber support;

Loosen the pivot and tie rod end nuts; Using an extractor, remove the pivot and tie rod end;
    • With the vehicle resting on the ground, loosen the axle shaft nut and wheel bolts; With the vehicle suspended, remove the wheel;

    • Release the tie rod from the shock absorber support;

    • Loosen the pivot and tie rod end nuts; Using an extractor, remove the pivot and tie rod end;

    • Using a lever, force the tray down to disengage the pivot;

    • Pull the axle sleeve to release the Fixed Joint, if necessary, use a polyurethane hammer;

    • Loosen the 6 screws securing the tulip's Slip Joint and remove the axle shaft from the vehicle.

Using snap ring pliers, open the snap ring and remove it from the shaft;

Remove the Slip Joint, the disc spring and the hood;

Clean the half shaft to avoid grease contamination.
    • Using snap ring pliers, open the snap ring and remove it from the shaft;

    • Remove the Slip Joint, the disc spring and the hood;

    • Clean the half shaft to avoid grease contamination.

  3. 
Manually assemble the Hood, the disc spring (with the concave part facing the outside of the joint);

Fit the Slip Joint onto the half shaft;

Mount the lock ring;
    • Manually assemble the Hood, the disc spring (with the concave part facing the outside of the joint);

    • Fit the Slip Joint onto the half shaft;

    • Mount the lock ring;

    • Apply grease to the Slip Joint;

    • Secure the larger clamp with the help of special pliers; Before securing the smaller clamp, use a round-tipped wrench between the boot and the shaft to allow some air to enter. Secure the smaller clamp, positioning it in the recess of the shaft.

Position the sealing gasket and fit the Sliding Joint into the gearshift tulip; fit the hood flange and the fixing plates. Put the screws in;

Apply 40 Nm of torque to the 6 Sliding Joint fixing screws;

Place the end of the Fixed Joint into the Hub. Fit the axle sleeve to the pivot. Install the steering terminal;
    • Position the sealing gasket and fit the Sliding Joint into the gearshift tulip; fit the hood flange and the fixing plates. Put the screws in;

    • Apply 40 Nm of torque to the 6 Sliding Joint fixing screws;

    • Place the end of the Fixed Joint into the Hub. Fit the axle sleeve to the pivot. Install the steering terminal;

    • Install the connecting rod into the shock absorber bracket;

    • Tighten the Pivot and Tie Rod End nuts.

    • Place the new half-shaft nut, do not reuse the old nut. Position the Wheel and Wheel Bolts.

    • With the vehicle resting on the ground, tighten the wheel nuts. Apply 230 Nm to the half-shaft nut.

    • To prevent accidental loosening, crimp the axle nut collar into the recess in the joint.

Conclusion

Avoid damage and premature wear, after installing the Half-shaft, check the vehicle's geometry.
