Introduction

Replacing a half shaft requires some care and specific tools.

  1. With the vehicle resting on the ground, loosen the axle shaft nut and the wheel bolts; With the vehicle suspended, remove the wheel; Loosen the pivot and tie rod end nuts; Using an extractor, remove the pivot and tie rod end; Using a lever, force the tray down to disengage the pivot;
    • With the vehicle resting on the ground, loosen the axle shaft nut and the wheel bolts; With the vehicle suspended, remove the wheel;

    • Loosen the pivot and tie rod end nuts; Using an extractor, remove the pivot and tie rod end;

    • Using a lever, force the tray down to disengage the pivot;

    • Pull the axle sleeve to release the Fixed Joint, if necessary, use a polyurethane hammer;

    • Remove the half shaft bearing bearing;

    • Remove the Gearbox Tulip;

  2. Fit the Tulip into the Gearbox; Place the end of the Fixed Joint on the Hub. Fit the axle sleeve onto the Pivot. Install the steering terminal; Install the half shaft bearing housing;
    • Fit the Tulip into the Gearbox;

    • Place the end of the Fixed Joint on the Hub. Fit the axle sleeve onto the Pivot. Install the steering terminal;

    • Install the half shaft bearing housing;

    • Tighten the pivot and steering terminal nuts. Insert the cotter pins;

    • Install the new axle shaft nut, do not reuse the old nut. Position the Wheel and wheel bolts.

    • With the vehicle resting on the ground, tighten the wheel nuts and axle shaft nut;

    • To prevent accidental loosening, crimp the axle nut collar into the recess in the joint.

  3. Under no circumstances should you attempt any repair or maintenance for which you are not trained or if you do not have the tools and equipment to perform the repair.

Conclusion
